530 wk 3

This is a very interesting week. As I get further into presentation Zen I become frustrated. This is a great tool that I think we need to focus more on. I have stated earlier that I feel like a jack of all trades and a master of none in this program, and presentation Zen is no different. I really have enjoyed reading the book and especially watching the videos with Garr, but I don't feel like I will master any of these techniques without more practice. I need to focus more on these topics to really get good.

On a more positive note, I have really enjoyed voicethread and I see a lot of potential there. After working with animoto, I am really excited to use this in the future. I could easily make short videos for introduction of topics in class and I can see my students using animoto for a digital storytelling assignment. This is a great tool that is easy to use and really fast. I also like that they have free music for you to use, because sometimes that can be a hassle.

  1. I totally get where you are coming from the "Jack of all trades, master of none" comment. I'm right there with you. I'm glad I'm servicable at all of this stuff but would love to consider myself a master at something. I too like the Zen ideas and have a lot to work on but at least we have some idea of what to strive for now.

  2. I also have enjoyed the videos with Garr and the reading and I definitely feel like you do...with teaching phy ed this year I know I won't get much of an opportunity to use this technology. I am going to try to incorporate it into my after school program though. Unfortunately there is always so much going on then. I haven't had a chance to play around with Animoto yet, but I wonder if I could use this more easily to showcase my after school program? I just caution using student pictures (though I think every family signs an internet wavier). Finally, I love the voice thread. I would like to have students write their own stories and draw their own pictures and put them on voice thread.

  3. I feel your frustration, I have actually started this week with teaching online and have used a voice thread in each of my classes as a form of introductions, surveying and waiting for feedback. With that said the animoto, voice thread and information gained from the "Presentation Zen" I am desiring more production time to incorporate all the great ideas.

  4. Your comment of being a jack of all trades and a master of none really hit home with me. Sometimes I feel frustrated and overwhelmed because I am learning about all of these amazing tools but once I feel like I start to get the hang of using it, it's on to another tool and I never get the chance to really master it. One thing that I really hope to master is the basic concept of "Presentation Zen" so I can carry it out in the future with all of my presentations. I also have really enjoyed Voice Thread. I plan to use this to share things with colleagues of mine that are across the country.

  5. I agree this takes a lot of practice and only time using it will helps us get better at it.As I got more into it I stopped and went to the "KISS" method (keep it simple stupid) works for me every time. Voice thread was interesting and fun. Again, the more you play around with it the better you get.
