525 wk 1
This course sounds like what I signed up for. What I am looking for in this program is ways to enhance my lessons with technology. The article on principles of teaching and learning covered a lot of stuff that we all learned in college. I do like to review that stuff because I forget it. The journal article was a bit heavy but it was important and it made sense. I agree that a lesson can not be based on technology. Technology should be used along with a well planed lesson in order to increase student interest and success. A perfect example is a power point presentation. If a power point is designed well, the lesson will be full of content, but more interactive with the power point and a follow along guide. This is much better than just having the teacher stand up front and talk or worse yet, having the students hand write notes. Technology can be a great tool when used in conjunction with a great lesson.

I agree that we need always need to brush up and review the basics - my memory was definitely jolted a time or two while reading the articles in principles of teaching and learning. I also agree that a power point can be used to address content if it is designed well, but I must say that too many teachers rest at that point. Just to use a powerpoint, no matter how well it's developed isn't integrating technology and it can't end there. I just attended a conference where a student panel was obviously not impressed with teachers who use a powerpoint and then consider themselves proficient with technology. The students complained that there could be so much more application in the lesson. It's for this reason that I really liked your final statement that technology is a great tool in conjunction with a great lesson...
